What if Things Were Like the Old Days and Records Weren't Announced?

In the old days, records were not included in the introductions for fighters.

I'm wondering if maybe we should get back to that, since the obsession with the 0 is so crazy.

Obviously people can look up any fighter's record, but I mean, a lot of folks may see two guys about to fight and see that they don't have very good records and assume the fight will suck and turn the channel and so forth.

Plus, in the old days, most guys had losses, but a lot of the fights were amazing.

Just seems like that is stressed too much these days.

I think you should change your name to Floyd's Johnson.

In the old days some very good champions had lots of losses on their records. I guess because they would take risks and fight anybody any time instead of cherry picking like Wilder, Khan, Danny Garcia and others so often do.

The general public will always care about zeros. They don't see all the business stuff or know about groomed "A-side" fighters vs foreign kids who are thrown to the wolves.

They think it's 500 random guys beating on each other in a random matrix and a guy who has never lost at the end of it is a god.

Never really gonna change & the marketing people wouldn't want it to change.

That's what I'd like to see- everyone fighting everyone. Must have been more fun back then. Not that some didn't duck and all but I bet it was less.

HBO has been pushing this narrative hard - they've been desperately trying to blame Floyd's perfect record for the sad state they left the boxing industry in for years.

Look, Manny has been beaten multiple times, yet I never saw him rushing to fight Crawford, Spence, or any of the top welters and his fans are just fine with that. Canelo was dominated by a past prime welterweight yet we was terrified to step in the ring with 97G. Losses do not encourage fighters to take risks. Again, like I've already mentioned - that's a BS narrative HBO created to take shots at Mayweather.

I didn't mention Floyd in the OP once.

Why all the talk about Mayweather?

                  How about Chavez Sr?

The 0 factor was in heavy play during his reign at the top. It was BS then, too.

Records don't matter as much as people think.

There are plenty of guys out there right sporting 0s who aren't very good. If their promoters weren't hell bent on protecting that 0, they might fight some decent opponents and learn something.

Seems like these days even if you beat a lot of top fighters, p4p fighters, Hall of fame fighters and ATG'S people just want to see you lose. No one wants to see someone they can't identify with it seems. They want to see flaws, excuses and failures!!! It makes them feel more comfortable with their lives I guess..HOW DARE YOU BE PERFECT, SUCCEED AND BE RICH O TOP OF THAT!!!! DAMN YOU!!!!
