Was Losing to Salido the Best Thing That Could Have Happened For Loma?
The guy has become a beast no doubt, but without that early lesson in regards to dealing with pressure and cheating of course, I don't think he would be quite as good as he's proven to be.
I don't know losing was the best thing, but the fight in general was a valuable learning experience. He got more from that fight than most prospects get from the 15 no hopers they face at the beginning of their careers.
Of course it was a great learning experience for him, u could already see the improvements and the adjustments in the championship rounds of the fight.
Very disappointed that the rematch never happened.

Any thoughts?
Salido was lucky the ref let him fight in his typical rough house style.. It was a wake up call to Loma... He took that call, and is ready for more action.. I'm glad Siri retired.. He ****ed up Juanma and brought Juanma & his wife & kids together again as a family.. That's a good loss.. A great loss!
Possibly. He also does not have to deal with 'protecting the zero' phenomenon that so many fighters are concerned with. He should be able to make more fights and not deal with promoter-backed ducking.

You must not be a fan of boxing if that’s the case maywheater gets lucky elbowing people on fight salido is a hell of fighter and loma got his axx handed by experience not luck.
Regardless of the fouls and the fiasco with the weigh-in he still probably deserved the win. Had he gotten the "w" I think more casuals fixated on the "0" would view him with an open mind but that's about it. Any intelligent boxing fan can see how much he's improved not just from that fight but his first 12-18 months in the game and I think that type of fight and the adversity he encountered benefited massively.
The fight itself was certainly a great lesson for Loma, and the loss made him more hungry, and reluctant to have the fight go to a decision. It being a split decision is no biggie, and Loma certainly had many arguments to have the W, but all that made him so much stronger. He is a beast now.
We still don't know how good Loma is and if he can really handle a phone booth fight. We do know that he can show boat against inferior and smaller opposition. Losing is never good, but if you gave it your all and come up short then you're good with me. He did that much, but what Loma forgot was that he didn't rematch Salido, and that bothers me.

It's one of those cases where the young fighter taking the L benefitted so much from it and learned so much from it. Very inspiring.
