Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Doesn't Want Mikey Garcia Fighting Higher Than 140

Robert Garcia eventually warmed up to his younger brother's ambitious idea to move up two more weight classes to challenge Miguel Cotto. Mikey Garcia's trainer even envisioned the WBC lightweight champion stopping Puerto Rico's Cotto, who wound up losing to huge underdog Sadam Ali in a farewell fight December 2 that was first offered to Garcia. Apart from fighting Cotto at 154 pounds, though, Robert Garcia doesn't want Mikey Garcia to move up any higher than he already has for fights.

That's fair, 140 seems to be good for him although he won't have the size advantage he's accustomed to.

I'd like him to stay at 135, personally.

He has a major size advantage at 135. Mikey needs to be at 140 or 147. He's picking on smaller guys at 135. He needs to challenge himself.

Bud can always fight him at 140. The question is will bob let Bud at him?

Good call on Robert Garcia. I've said this a few times already....140 should be Mickey's limit.
