What's standard defines overrated in boxing terms???

It gets thrown around in every sport, this board is literally filled with it.

It's common with foreign fighters. " they havn't fought anyone" I mean, they might be slightly over sold but if you beat champs from major regions of the world you have to have some skill

Maybe people get confused with over marketed and overrated?

What makes a fighter overrated? If the standard is boxingscene's alts opinion then it's flawed

"champions" . Those titles are part of the hype and marketing, that's the reason boxing has so many. Fool the public that the fighter is better than he actually is because he picked up a belt and is a "champion"

At middle: Saunders is the most skilled.

( Having to many close calls with guys your supposedly better than and never beating any top to elite fighters or rival ) Golovkin fits this definition perfectly.

I was saying Golovkin's overhype doesn't match his boxing skills. He's one dimensional and depends on brute strength. When that didn't work, we saw what happened. He's a good, limited fighter with basic skills.

He couldn't even cut off the ring against Canelo, the one thing he was supposedly great at. What happened there?

97G is the most overrated fighter of all time, his fans were literally comparing him to Roy Jones after he cherry picked and knocked out a bum that was under house arrest. He stepped up one time, he fought a B level fighter in Jacobs and he was exposed. I was reading boxing scene when the Jacobs fight was made, 97G was supposed to destroy that "chinny cancer patient", instead he arguably lost .

For me it's relative to the accomplishments of fighters from past and present that have set the bar so high.

The fan base is also also largely responsible for overrating their favorite fighter which is common across an array of sports.

Yeah, I can see how it would be bad for someone to defeat someone with a 32-1 record, with 29 KO's. A guy who has maybe lost 20 rounds in his entire career (not counting the GGG fight).
