Comments Thread For: Loeffler: Naoya Inoue's Move To 118 Rules Him Out For Superfly 2

I see where your coming from and it makes NO SENCE to leave 115 right now.UNLESS he REALLY cant make weight. If he fights Yamanaka or Burnett and Tete or even the 1 time cheat(have heard other side of story and sounds plausible but they ALL have a story)Nery then ill hold off calling this a duck. But if he moves up and looks for easy title(really is not one at 118 at moment)and defends with guys like last two then he deserves to get bashed. All I was saying is Inoue could fight any one of the guys who are fighting on that card. He could stick around and fight all of them. It's a stacked division.
All high profile fights, that pay good on mainstream HBO. No reason for him to move up and not fight these guys. I was shedding light on the fact there is no mention of "offers" between Inoue and these guys, instead they only mention offers for the guys who aren't even on the same network and with other promoters doing their own things - fights that pretty much are not realistic at the moment. They know this and that's why they brought it up, its a deflection from the truth.
Either him or his team doesn't want him fighting those guys on that HBO card.
It's clear as day. No way around it.Comment

Yea but the WHOLE div for 1st time ever is getting some love from HBO.With him tied to ESPN ALL BIG FIGHTS are gone.Dont see him as not WANTING to fight best just don't see anyway he can.Maybe Bob would be willing to lend him out but that's never been his MO.I suspect Top Rank will match Ancajas against Mexicans or Americans for the US market. Ancajas will be fighting a Mexican in Israel Gonzalez in his US debut on Feb. 3. Ancajas also showed that he's willing to go anywhere to fight anybody. He fought in Ireland, Australia, Macau, China and now scheduled in the USA.Comment

Agreed. It will look bad if he doesn't fight the best at 118.I see where your coming from and it makes NO SENCE to leave 115 right now.UNLESS he REALLY cant make weight.
Then again, i can't see him landing fights that easily there unless he gets a mandatory shot. Nobody even knows who he is, i doubt Hearn or Warren are going to bring him over to fight their champs. He would the ultimate high risk - low reward right now. He's barely going to sell a ticket in the UK.
They would probably rather bring someone like Ryo Akaho over if they wanted a Japanese opponent. It would make no difference to sales and a much easier fight.
I really think he could have had bigger fights at 115, at least hbo might have had a bit of influence in match making for their superfly cards.Comment

Ancajas fought in Warren Promotions in his last fight in Ireland so there's that possibility in the future. Fighting Mexicans in the US is a big market. Maybe he can fight Estrada or Cuadras or American Warren in his next US fights.Comment

Your right the bigger fights are at 115(except Yamanaka that could be very big in japan)but if he cant make it he cant make it.The titlest at 118 are Burnett,Tete and for some reason still Nery but he HAS to fight Yamanaka next.So no easy Titles to pick up I would think there hoping for Yamanaka to win rematch with Nery. But the KO he took cant be removed like the "WIN" can.He is at age where he might not be same anymore that's just another reason to hate PEDS.Because it screws up history.Agreed. It will look bad if he doesn't fight the best at 118.

That's the prob Estrada and Cuadras are fightin on HBO and will as long as they win.But Warren is a good choice for now but not sure after that. And fightin unknown Mexicans not really such a big market for 115pders.Maybe Ioka will not retire(there has been some odd dealings around his retirement)and move up but don't see any fights for him at 115 tied to Arum except for Warren that was a good idea. But still not a BIG payday even for 115pd standards.Hopfully Bob will be open to lending him out for a price.Comment

I still feel like the guys at 115 are better names, bigger stars, and better fighters then all the guys you just mentioned at 118.I see where your coming from and it makes NO SENCE to leave 115 right now.UNLESS he REALLY cant make weight. If he fights Yamanaka or Burnett and Tete or even the 1 time cheat(have heard other side of story and sounds plausible but they ALL have a story)Nery then ill hold off calling this a duck. But if he moves up and looks for easy title(really is not one at 118 at moment)and defends with guys like last two then he deserves to get bashed.Comment

Bigger names maybe but Ryan Burnett sells out the big arena in Belfast. He may not be a "star" per se, but i reckon the guys at 115 and 118 would struggle to shift as many tickets on their name alone as he does.Comment

Don't disagree as I said. Its just if he cant make 115 then he has no choice. And just pointed out there is no easy Title to get at 118.Whether or not he can make 115 well we will prob never know. But who he fights AFTER title win(assumeing he wins one)at 118 will tell us if he is lookin to really test himself to be great.Because I also agree his opp to this point at least since he won 115 title has been less then it should/could have been.Comment
