Honestly no, but then I'm already very much looking forward to the fight so nothing said in the buildup is really going to change that for better or worse. That said 'generating more interest' is a very subjective thing so realistically you can only look at it at the most basic level, that being more comments = more exposure = more interest.

When discussing hearn's promoting of the fight we as hardcore fans need to understand that anything he says and does is not directed at us. In these interviews he is aiming to lull in the casual fans who pick and choose when they pay to watch boxing. It is these fans that will make up the bulk of the PPV and ticket revenues. So in that sense Hearn has done a great job with Joshua, getting him to the point that he can sell 70,000 tickets fighting a nobody like Pulev. Some of us may feel that Joshua is overrated, so what? Eddie's job is make both he and Joshua rich beyond their wildest dreams and to that end he has been very effective.

As to the fight, outside of Wilder this is the best that Joshua can make right now. An undefeated fighter with a strap, a fight that moves the division closer to unification. Not sure you can rip on that, especially as Wilder is asking for 50/50 which effectively means he is pricing himself out of the fight. Wilder needs to be realistic, accept that he is going to take a smaller percentage to Joshua but then get his promoter to lobby hard as Higgins has done for Parker to squeeze hearn for every last drop that he can. Then beat Joshua and take the larger cut in the rematch. It's not rocket science.

No I don't think what he said was done to promote the fight at all. Anything he says in these kind of interviews is just him saying what he thinks and is aimed more at the hardcore fans who will tune in no matter what, hence why were discussing it here, I doubt casuals will even know he said this unless it gets printed in the tabloids.

Hearn is a good promoter though. He does all the things that a promoter should, gets his fighter and the fight media coverage and exposure in the lead up to a fight. Before the Takam fight we had all the usual media on sky, press conference, interviews etc. But he had a documentary of the Wlad fight on national TV and then had Joshua on a prime time TV show with Bear Grylls. Joshua was everywhere in the lead up to the Takam fight. I expect the same media coverage in the lead up to Parker.

Thats not going to happen , if thats the case why bother watching any Joshua fights when Joshua will be heavily favored over everyone .

You are complaining about Parker when thats the highest top guy available ,that makes no sense .

If we went by YOUR blue print no one would watch title fights bc then promoters would have to warn everyone not too tune in ....its going to be a one sided Anthony Joshua beat down, save your money !

You in short are penalising Joshua for being better than the other top fighters ....i can tell you right now you like many are here are going to be complaining ,some even crying on here when Joshua hardly loses any rnds for awhile on here and you will contribute it to mismatches yet have no answer who you ACTUALLY want Joshua to fight ?

Sound familiar ? Ever hear of M.Tyson and Wlad Klitchko ? Two of the most if not THE most dominant HW's in history for THEIR eras. lol

Tell me who in the division moves as well as Hughie? That's exactly what i was expecting to happen only a lack of offensive output is holding Hughie back from getting to the top. I'm sure you only appreciate rock em sock em robot brawlers but there's more to boxing. 100% guarantee you Hughie would have no problem with the likes of a Dillian Whyte

In a division where only two people really matter and anyone with a brain cell knows only deontay or joshua will come out on top, lets just make the fights people want instead of trying to play this unification bull

If this was the 70's parker might eventually get a shot but hed never be conaidered a champion and joshua or wilder might never have been a champion either just depends whod win that fight tbh

The rest are just journeymen tune up fights theyre never gonna be a buster douglas either theyre tomato cans at best

Theyre not even kenny norton material

And the same for wilder he aint fighting anyone important at all, these fools should be testing themselves or theyre gonna slip in training coa theyre fighting no hopes

I wouldnt heavily favour joshua over wilder thats a legit fight in my eyes thatd could go either way, parker has the punch power of a cruiserweight steve cunningham and the ring iq of a baked patatoe and you would glad get the lads round and act like history is going down popcorn and beers and ******* all that **** making a night of it to watch parker get pasted by joshua

I mean **** if the guy had punching power and stature id be interested

Say if it was on paper a a one sided beatdown like tyson bruno i wouldnt disregard it as bruno had immense power and showed he was a beast prior to that fight

Id be interested in something like that but cmon man parker is a ****ing car valet from austraila
