Comments Thread For: Hearn: Joshua Could Have Taken Easier Fight, He Wants The Belts!

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs), says his boxer could have taken an easier fight for the first quarter of 2018 - but he wants to unify the division. Joshua is close to a finalized deal to unify his titles with WBO world champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) of New Zealand.

Why "easier fights"? Is the Parker fight any difficult? I'll be shocked if it goes beyond five/six rounds.

He's a promoter. He's trying to sell a fight. Anybody with a brain knows Joshua will win convincingly.

Parker has a belt and is unbeaten. This is a perfectly understandable fight for Joshua / Hearn to make.

Most definitely. But it's not any more "difficult" than, say, the Charles Martin fight, in that Parker - unbeaten and holding a belt as he is - is just a mediocre fighter.

At world heavyweight championship level the fights don't come much easier than this.Parker looked like he had potential three years back then faded then looked useless against useless Hugie Fury.If AJ. is sharp and on form and there's no reason why not he should do away with Parker within five rounds. Then surely Eddie and Joshua will be forced to take the fight everyone wants to see.

Martin is a green southpaw custom made for Joshua . He had zero chance .

Out of the available top 10 fighters Parker will last the longest . How long ? It wont matter a short fight and ppl will say Parker was overated , a long fight and Joshua is overated .

The truth is just about every fight to most of them will result in lopsided matches and then everyone will complain what a weak era it is and i give it till 2019 . lol

You have dozens of great fights that will happen and you dont need Joshua ,he doesnt make up the entire HW division but ppl here will troll anyway . HaHa

Parker is better than Martin. Martin was garbage, Joshua beat him without even getting out of first gear.

Parker at his worst is no better than Takam who took Joshua 10 rounds. Parker seems to have a decent chin, this combined with his other attributes will ensure he won't get blown away early.

If you think Joshua just walks through Parker then you over rate Joshua or under rate Parker. Not saying Parker wins but he's a much tougher fighter than say Martin, Whyte, Pulev etc.
