Comments Thread For: Abner Mares: Robert Garcia Has Rejuvenated My Career

Three-division world champion Abner Mares (31-2-1) is looking to have a big 2018. After fighting just once in 2016 and 2017, the WBA "regular" featherweight champion believes that he will achieve greater results in the new year. I was impressed with how Mares looked against Cuellar.

And now he has had even more time to absorb what Robert Garcia is teaching him. He could give Santa Cruz some real trouble if that fight ever gets signed.

Is Mares the guy that landed 200 lowblows, scored a knock down with a low blow while the fighter whom he low blowed got point deducted for low blow?

He looked WAY better with Garcia. This is a 50/50 fight now with Leo. I favored Leo big time before not now.

          What about that eye Mares?
That is why you barely fight.
