Dumb argument that boxing fans love to make
Collapse

There a lot people on here who resort to racism because they can't make coherent arguments.
If someone make a comment against a certain boxer people assume it's because of racism but a lot of times it's just a criticism. Nothing more.Comment

You have to understand that it doesn't usually affect who they watch or actually like to watch. It affects interactions on here though. I like Golovkin but there's a plethora of douchebags that rail for him hard. When people troll you with half truths and a poor understanding of boxing, you're not going to be particularly kind in how you speak about this guy they worship. You might like that fighter, but the fan is so annoying that you're going to be antagonistic when arguing with that irrational fan.Comment

i gotta say, i am influenced by fans who matter. like if a respected boxer or trainer says, 'oh you gotta check out ricardo lopez - soundest fundamentals in the game', that affects my opinion of things. also, if someone presents a good argument for why certain boxers be rated above others (as is the case with every p4p list), that affects my opinions too. I wasn't really paying too much attention to Bud before he started appearing on people's p4p lists, for example
But yeah, i get what OP is saying. some people don't seem to know what the hell they're talking about...Comment

You are missing the entire argument. My argument is that regardless of how wrong and ****ty any fanbase is ,that should not effect ones judgement of the fighter himself unless that fighter openly supports those same ****ty views that his crazy fanbase does. I am sure there are Neo****s that like some of the bands that i like but unless those band members support ****s i am not gonna like their music any less.im sure by the end of this you will tell me "well thats just how it is all fanbases do that"......but thats simply not the whole truth of it
golovkin fans simply dont want him held to the same standards as they hold other fighters to...or vice versa.....but you wont answer the biting questions i posed....youll just make some vague statement again about how all fanbases are guilty of what i said and skirt around themComment

It gets frustrating that Floyd Mayweather could do nothing right in the eyes of some fans, yet the fighters they like get labeled all-time greats despite not accomplishing even one third of what he did.
Pointing out their hypocrisy and double standards is only fair.
That doesn't have to reflect on the boxers themselves, though.Comment

but the fighters career is actually theirs.....so when a fan of a fighter goes out of his way to bash the career and resume of other fighters while making excuses for their fighters actually being weaker...its not the same comparisonYou are missing the entire argument. again...you used steakhouses but forget to mention the guy that is talking so highly of the steakhouse he likes is also going out of his way to bash steakhouses that have been around longer and have higher reviews
i dont actually hate golovkin...i even own a piece of his merchandise and have given him props on here...i admit hes good......but hes not a great...and hes not some guy that has come to save boxing and cares not about money but legacy.......thats what his fans have built him up as....then when he proved otherwise they changed their tune even after bashing others years ago for business moves.....all is not equal in your comparison.....but idc really...Comment

those that have seen me around here know ive said that ggg is very good...good for the sport....probably a very good guy and i respect his talent
but hes not all hes built up to be and his fans have tore down many more accomplished fighters while this guy can do no wrong
it has nothing to do with race...im a white male...and i dont knock kovalev and loma...i have respect for them.....im not a big fan of golovkins career thoughComment
