well a lot of people are dumb if you haven't noticed. if you actually watch that round neither guy landed any clean power shots, canelo tried to land some but they were all blocked. ggg landedmore jabs that were cleaner and harder so he should have won it but his name is ggg so some people dont care what actually happens. hes a face first bum and canelo is the guy who lost to floyd so he won it.

I rewatched it recently and had it a draw, it was a close fight. Canelo showed good defence but he just didn't do enough to win and you have to take the belt from the champion.

Golovkin clearly struggled in this fight. Even when he had Canelo right in front of him he had trouble hitting him cleanly. Nobody other than Canelo has been able to stand with GGG like that and not get splattered, but Canelo didn't do it enough.

Most people won't see the little things he did, like how he didn't back up all the time like many GGG opponents, he stood is ground and GGG's supposed lack of aggression was due to this, Canelo wasn't easy to back up. Canelo ensured much of the fight was fought in the centre where he liked, his ring generalship was better than GGG's.

Canelo also took away GGG's body attack. GGG head hunted in the early rounds but then I think in round 4 he started going down stairs and he found the Canelo picked off his right to the body with his left elbow each time and he was often not in a position to land the left hook due to Canelo's body position.

So when people wonder why GGG wasn't more aggressive or why he didn't go to the body, it was because Canelo didn't allow GGG to do what he normally does. But as I said, Canelo just didn't do enough. Golovkin was persistent despite things not going as well as they normally did and that consistency was enough to earn a draw.

Even people like me who thought gg won know it was a close fight. Anyone who can't see that shouldn't be talking about boxing until they learn to understand what they are watching.
        ok.....???

Like I said, they were 12 competitive rounds, but i gave 9 of them to GGG. Wasnt close on the scorecards, but competitive, GGG earned those 9 rounds.

Nah it was a close fight that GGG should have gotten the nod in. The 10-2 card was the only one out of bounds.

I think I had it 8-4 or 7-5 GGG... I can't recall. But I fully expected him to get the decision going into the announcement of the scores.

I scored it a draw, I find it ironic that people tend to focus on the so called "Canelo rounds" and say 'well maybe GGG nicked one or two of those.

Whereas the rounds GGG supposedly sweeped ie. 4-9, if you actually watch closely they were mighty close some of them.

Honestly it was a fight with probably 9-10 rounds which were difficult to score and tight, in a fight like that you are going to get a variety of scores.

GGG was putting Canelo under lots of pressure but wasn't actually able to hit the target clean much at all. Canelo took long bouts of inactivity and wasn't consistent.

I get the impression most people prefer the fact that GGG moved his hands more and moved forward.

To me they are evenly matched, when Canelo is fresh GGG has big problems keeping up with Canelos speed and boxing ability, but he doesn't have the engine to do it for 12 rounds and when he slows down GGG is able to catch up to him and put him on the ropes and outwork him.

In the rematch I'd like to see Canelo shuffle back to the middle of the ring rather than slide along the ropes. With GGG - I think he needs to sell out and go for it more, not be so careful and really test Canelo's heart, resolve, and courage under fire.

Canelo actually landed a few shots and took the first round. Coming forward doesn't mean a guy won a round. That's why so many fans have jacked up cards. Canelo won the first three and the last three.

I watched it again too recently I think canelo started the fight really well and won the first 2 rounds imo but he seemed to just stop working until maybe round 7 or 8 except for the last 20sec of each round which Sanchez told GGG to put a stop to that while talking in the corner

I don't know if the strategy was to try and make golovkin punch himself out and slow him down and finish strong but even if it was canelo didnt win enough rounds to get a draw it was a 7-5 at best maybe 8-4

8-4 to ggg on my card and I gave Canelo the benefit of the doubt In one round. There's no prizes for making a fighter look clumsy but not countering. Wasnt a hard fight to score, if you scored it a draw or a win for Canelo then you obviously don't think that landing punches is important In a boxing match. I've said it before on here but casuals score fights better than most so called experts, just call it as they are it and one guy was in charge for the vast majority of the fight.
