  • Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: Golovkin Took A lot of Punishment in Last 2 Fights

Former two-division world champion Danny Garcia believes IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) took a lot of damage in his last three ring appearances - and especially he feels GGG took too much punishment in his last two fights.

Duh, he has. G has fought real opponents his last three fights. That's what happens when he isn't facing nobodies. Everyone wanted to jump on his hype train for ko'ing a bunch of bums. Saunders has been beating the same people rather easily too.

The only reason G was ever ranked so high on any p4p list is because he ducked anyone and everyone halfway decent his entire career until Jacobs. Everyone knows that. As soon as he fought real opponents he hasn't looked so good. He very easily could have two losses in his last two fights. That is what is wrong with boxing "fans". They put someone at the top of the p4p list for fighting complete bums. Just look now. Who has Crawford ever beat? Postol? Diaz??? Those are not opponents that should get anyone ranked p4p. It seems now the way to get a high ranking is to avoid any and all challenges. I still believe resume means a lot, and ko'ing a cab driver doesn't mean squat. A ko or a decision, a win is a win. People get too caught up in the media hype and in ko's. These so-called fans want to put fighters at the top for never fighting anyone good. Look how many were riding G's jockstrap until he fought Jacobs. There were five stories on here everyday about G. Then he fought a real opponent and many had him losing. Now G has been proven to be a good fighter, but not any all-time great. Idiots wanted to compare him to Hagler and B-hop. G isn't even close to those guys.

You must not have watched that fight then. Garcia had plenty of head movement and made Thurman miss a lot. Garcia just didn't throw anything back. He was worried and making sure he didn't get hit with a flush shot, and he didn't. It is just he was on the defensive the whole fight.

Watch that fight again, and tell me Garcia didn't have any head movement. Get out of here, you just proved you don't even watch the fights, you just bash Haymon fighters. Garcia deserves a lot of criticism, but not for lack of head movement. That was some of the best head movement I've ever seen. Its just that didn't win him any rounds, because he never threw anything back.

I didn't see a lot of punishment. Just a lot more than Golovkin is used to, that's all.

when you have that aggresive stalker approach youre gonna eat some leather. period. but guys with that style usually come equipped with superhuman chins. ggg just like hagler has a damn tree trunk for a chin. and his conditioning allows him to keep coming for twelve rounds. .. and also the quality of competition is getting tougher. he cant change up his style at this point.
