Yeah, I always feel the best stoppages or wins have to be the ones that actually mean something. There might have been a more brutal KO at domestic or sub world level across any number of countries, but none were as important as Rung cleanly stopping and beating Gonzalez.

I think the WBSS is reaching its most meaningful stage in 2018, with this year having a number of gimme fights. I don't think anything truly resounded has happened in the tournament, but with Breidis/Usyk and Eubank/Groves now in action, the tournament has some context to it.

Good piece, and nice to see Lomachenko receive the dues, after so long. He is a highly skilled fighter, who is just a couple of top wins away from being a big name in the sport.

It was a good year overall for the sport, with the aforementioned Lomachenko, and Crawford coming into their own, the heavyweight division having a classic and the smaller divisions, which I had not followed for years, being relevant again. Possibly the best boxing year in a decade or so, or certainly since I stopped writing.

        Well done young man.

I agree, just thought it was worth a mention as a set up

In hindsight, it was worth a mention but I'll get into writing about it in a years time lol

Hopefully the remaining fights are as good in the ring as they are on paper.

dude, the biggest story of the year was Floyd/Conor, not Horn/Manny FFS! I mean more people paid $100 to watch Floyd/Conor than watched Horn/Manny for free.

The KO of the year was Tete's 11 sec 1 punch KO. I don't see how it gets better than that.

when did I have a category titled "biggest story of the year"?

And there's a fair few contenders for KO of the year, a couple at light middle too, but all those KOs took place at D/C level, Rung had THE ko at A+ level.

                  And no Ward-Kovalev.

But then again this is just one posters review of 2017. I don't know what makes this poster particularly qualified for sticky status. Seems weird.

You clearly didn't read what I wrote if you think Ward/Kovalev was not mentioned.

And what makes me qualified is that I can string a sentence together in above average level English, something you are incapable of even understanding, since you can't read whats in front of you.

True. I missed out on it. Point taken.

And apparently being regularly obnoxious is also a needed qualification that you clearly posses.
