  • Comments Thread For: Ward: Retirement Harder Than Expected, But No Second Thoughts

His retirement from boxing has been harder than Andre Ward anticipated, yet not so difficult that he regrets his decision. The undefeated Ward assured HBO's Jim Lampley during a segment of "The Fight Game" that aired for the first time Wednesday night that he isn't second-guessing retiring. Ward is 33, young for a retired boxer, and walked away from the sport when he was the top-ranked fighter on most prominent pound-for-pound lists.

This is the part most athlete struggles with, especially if you are considered young when you retired.

its too bad about ward.....there just arent any money fights out there....for him to come back and go into the ring for 2-3 million after making like 13-14 in his last two fights just doesnt motivate him....and theres really nothing out there for him.....ward will find a way to make money out of the ring....plus thats a great way to go out ala pac/jmm

Ward proved me wrong beating Kovalev and retired on top proving his greatness. Would love to see him back especially the way LHW is heating up but it is rare a great champ leaves on top would like him to follow Floyd and not end up like Toney or go out like Hopkins did. Enjoy retirement champ.

Along with Floyd best of his era SM LH cleaned out SM when underdog easily. Not a big talker hated on except fighters trainers real fans. Sad you need negative charisma plus talent now. Broner out draws Ward twilight zone
