If you weigh more than the allowed amount, which in this case by all boxing regulations and standards for junior middleweight, is 154 pounds, you are too heavy for JMW and will have to either lose the extra weight or pay a fine.
This is the agreed upon rule by all boxing associations.

A catchweight is an agreed upon weight, traditionally in-between the two fighters current weight.

Canelo did not weigh more than the allowed amount

the catchweight was agreed at 155, and he made weight

just like lil'G made weight for his catchweight fight with Rosado

no, wait..... you don't like talking about Golovkin's catchweight fight with Rosado, do ya?

      Okay, got it.

if the limit was 127..... correct

hey, you are getting the hang of this.....

      no, wait.....

Besides, this thread is about what division 155lb falls in, not Dre n G

nah, he had already moved up

        your boxing knowledge is shameful

        kid......

if Golovkin is a SMW, then why did he need a cw for Ward?

FACT: it does not matter what they weigh, you silly kid

it only matters what they could have weighed

The reason I mentioned amateur BOXING is because the weight he asked about falls into 2 separate divisions, depending on whether you're talking about professional or amateur BOXING. This thread, as much as you want to make it Dre n G, or that red headed kid, is about weights and classes. 161.5 falls into two categories.

Now, let me say this. If you don't have respect for amateur boxing

            GET...THE...FUĆK...OFF..THIS...SITE

this ****head thought that we just spent 250+ pages discussing the middleweight range

now he thinks we are talking about the am's

            oh lordie lol

Every fight is scheduled to a certain weight category . For a fight to be recognized under such weigh category both boxers must make the weight within the limit of the division in the official weigh in ceremony.

Catch weight – This term is used for specific agreements reached by the 2 fighters and is an exclusive commercial contract which has nothing to do with the regulations of boxing.

There are 2 scenarios in which catch weight fights have been scheduled

A-. World title fight scheduled to x division in which the fighters agree to have a limit of how much they can weight . For example a fight scheduled at welterweight which the limit is 147 lbs. and the fighters agree on weighing 144 maximum. For boxing regulation the fight is within the 147 category, so it is an official welterweight fight.

What you fail to understand (I really hope you're just trolling and not actually this ******) is that is 155 weren't in the MW division, the WBC wouldn't have sanctioned the fight as a title fight. I believe both Lara and Kirkland had belts at the time of their fights with Canelo. There's a reason that neither title were on the line

              for the last time kid.....

NOBODY ever questioned the middleweight range

              not
              once
              EVER

              hilarious

btw kid, if catchweights were that abhorrent, they would not have sanctioned that fight anyway..... but I guess that point flew over your little peanut as well

it was terribly amusing that stars like Cotto, Canelo, Ward, even Hopkins, Froch, etc..... all had to be bums and cowards in order for Golovkin to be great..... which, he is not

                  what a truly ******ed question

                  because.....

                  1) he weighs in at 160
                  2) he weighs in at 160, in order to fight a MW opponent
                  3) he is conditioned to both fighting MW's and to making 160

155lb Canelo..... did NONE of those things

                    NO, you have not

you posted dribble stating that 155 falls within the MW range

                    1) if a fighter is limited to any weight within the middleweight division below 160, then he is participating in a catchweight contest..... because, middleweight is 160

                    2) the technical aspects of the fight are irrelevant because..... one JMW, fighting another JMW, at 155, is NOT a middleweight bout

                    like I have always said.....

casual-fans are totally clueless about styles/levels/weight
