  • Comments Thread For: Povetkin's Former Coach Holds Nose at Recent Win, Saw Flaws

Alexander Zimin, the former head trainer of Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin (33-1, 23 KOs), criticized the current coaching staff of the Russian boxer after his most recent win over Christian Hammer. The bout, which was a WBA, WBO final eliminator, saw Povetkin dominate Hammer over twelve rounds of lackluster action on December 15 in Yekaterinburg. Due to the win, Povetkin is now in position to challenge the winner of the potential Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker unification.

I think it could - more than anything else - have something to do with age. Povetkin is 38 years old. Physically he looked as good as ever, its the age and the inactivity.

I guess Povetkin performance is a bait to lure the current champions for a fight.

Why on earth would a fighter need to lure the current champions in a fight where he would become the mandatory challenger to 2 of them?

No PED’s no stamina. Tyson Fury will be the same now he’s off the juice, he’ll never replicate that performance vs Wlad.

Povetkin, Browne, Ortiz, Fury they’re all gonna look like shyt compared to when they were juicing, even Hughie Fury looked like trash against Parker he didn’t throw shyt through fear of gassing and being knocked out.
