Let's Get Some Things Straight About Loma

Yes, he does pass the eye test but that is the only test he does pass.

The reason why his detractors still say "Salido Doe" is very simple.

He didn't give Siri a rematch right away when he should have, nor has he fought anyone since who had even a slight chance of employing a similar gameplan as Siri did.

He has yet to face another guy who is willing to mix it up AND has power AND can go to the body with some conviction.

We still don't know what will happen if Loma fights someone with enough skill, toughness, and power to impose his will on Vasyl.

Which is why we don't hear Loma calling out too many guys at 135 and we don't even hear him calling out guys at 130 who might be able to do some of the same things.

No call outs of Miguel Berchelt or Francisco Vargas for example, instead he wants an inexperienced Davis who has no belt.

Linares and Easter at 135 are also very intriguing...again, we've never heard these names mentioned by Loma. He has mentioned Mikey-kinda- but that is obviously because it shapes up as a decent money fight, probably Loma's biggest potential payday.

The question really isn't "who can beat Loma" because there seems to be no shortage of guys that have a decent chance.

The question is who is Loma willing to fight that isn't a cherry pick?

P.S. In addition to the ****ers mentioned, a rematch with Russell or a fight with Farmer also might be quite interesting.

Well, Salido didn't make weight so immediately moved up in weight to 130 where Lomachenko fought for and won the vacated title. Then Salido lost and drew with Martinez who was the champion. Lomachenko then defeated Martinez when he arrived at 130 and Salido's manager admitted both in April and August to turning down an offer for a re-match despite being happy with the offer of $750k which was deemed fair. First time they said to pursue a re-match with the injured and recently defeated Vargas and then in August due to an "injury".

What's the point fighting Vargas now? He's been badly defeated and injured and Berchelt is currently injured and signaled his intention to have a tune-up in late February.

He isn't at 135 yet so hard to be too hard on him for not calling out a lightweight. Sure, he may have mentioned Mikey's name but perhaps that's because Mikey's name was brought up?

He did fight Walters who had always shown a willingness to mix it up and power. Just because he couldn't get a thing done against Loma shouldn't discredit the win. perhaps it had a lot to do with Loma? Remember idiots said Loma was ducking him and wouldn't dare fight him and the same for Rigo and then the tone changes AFTER the fact.

Vargas won his last fight earlier this month and is available.

Berchelt will return in the first two months of 2018 and has not mentioned needing a tune-up.

These guys are both available for the right money and would most likely be a lot less expensive than Davis, who Loma IS calling out.

Davis doesn't think he is ready, has said so repeatedly to his credit.

No shame in saying I am not ready yet. Personally, I would like to see Loma in with Davis but the fighter will know when he is up to it.

But, there are other guys at 135, he doesn't have to fight the big boys.

Ray Beltran is still there. And so is Felix Verdejo.

Like I said, plenty of guys he can go at.

My guess is he won't go near most of these guys tho...

I think he will almost certainly face Beltran in 2018 (if Beltran beats Moses). You just won't give him credit for it.

Verdejo may be even less ready than Tank Davis. Why does that fight interest you so much? Verdejo was recently dropped down the WBO due to some poor performances and layoffs. He's got to get back to the drawing board and isn't ready.

Vargas defeated a fringe guy coming off a bad beating and injury so what? And when was he a viable opponent? Should they have just cancelled the Rigo bout and flew Vargas in that night and had him fight Loma perhaps on the Sunday?

Berchelt will be fighting late February probably against Mijares in a tune-up and has made it clear he wants to face Roman next.

Loma is targeted to fight in March, so realistically whats going to be available? Salido just lost, Vargas is with GBP and is rebuilding, Berchelt is unavailable, Verdejo like I said isn't a viable foe at this point and Beltran is fighting for the vacant title against Moses so really what's available that will be accepted without scrutiny?

Loma's Salido bout is now irrelevant, because that was in his second bout. The current quality of a should be evaluated based on their most recent performances. Not based on how they performed multiple years ago or more than x amount of bouts ago.

Once someone achieves their PHD, their potential high school exam failures become irrelevant, because they have no bearing on their most recent qualification / level. The same is the case with Lomachenko's loss to Salido.

Sounds more like someone is parroting Floyd and justifying Davis ducking. Davis has over 200 amateur fights. He lost his title on the scales. He isn't too young. He should put his money where his mouth is along with his ventriloquist Floyd.

Fuc his detractors. They are probably mostly the same guys who trash other good Russian boxers Kovalev and GGG. They will never give any Russian boxer any credit no matter who they fight and defeat. I like Loma just fine the way he is. He won two world titles in about 8 pro fights and you call him a cherry picker FFS. No boxer in the long history of boxing ever won two world titles in so few pro fights. Nobody believes Salido would win a rematch so what's the point. Good offers were made to Salido for a rematch but he turned them down to fight others for less money.Go ahead and wait on him to pass your unreasonable tests. I say he is a winner right now and I will bet money on him to win every time he fights and I will make money betting on him every time he fights. Verdejo is a joke who has yet to face a guy boxrec rates even in the top 20 in their weight class. If he fought an undeserving boxer like Verdejo that would be a cherry pick fight that he would win with ease.

He can pass the eye test but fact is he could not pass the Salido TEST!
