whatever weight he's at, people will still say he needs to move up further in weight to prove himself.
How fast should Loma move up?

He should try and fight a a champion next time out and then move up to 135 when no other champion will fight him. At 135 there's quite a few options like Linares who I think would face him and perhaps Mikey Garcia who I think doesn't want him. He should stay at 135 and unify and then try 140 when there's no more challenges left.
He's not a big guy at all and I'm confused as to why people think he should be at Welterweight.Comment

so why did floyd go to 154? he went up to chase the biggest financial fight possible. same thing with mikey going to 140. same reason pacquiao moved up and same reason lomachenko will move up again. He should never move up unless making 130 weakens him. As long as he can make 130 and be strong and fight at his best that is his correct weight and the weight he should stay at.If making 130 does weaken him then he should move up to 135. The idea that an excellent boxer who is very comfortable at the weight he is fighting at must move up to a weight class that is too heavy for him to fight men naturally heavier than him to dare to be great is a ****** one. It should be called dare to fight above your best weight to get your ass kicked. Let's say at 135 there is a boxer just as good as Loma but he is a natural 135 pound fighter. If Loma moves up to fight this guy he will lose not because that boxer was better but only because that boxer was bigger, Mayweather didn't move up from 130 to 147 to dare to be great. He moved up from each weight class when he outgrew that weight class and had trouble making weight. When he fought at 135 he had trouble making 130. When he fought at 147 he could no longer make 140. He failed to make the agreed 144 pound weight for Marquez and weighed 146. Ward moved to 175 when he could no longer make 168 and he said so. Donaire and Gonzalez kept moving up in weight again and again when they probably should not have and it got them knocked out by naturally heavier boxers.

When Adrien Broner was 135 after he destroyed DeMarco people wanted him to move up because their was nobody left who would be favorite to beat him.Loma is in the same situation their is nobody at 130 who would be favorite to beat him people want to see him challenged Loma might have move to 135 fight Mikey GarciaComment

I don't think Loma can do 140 so he'll most likely move up to 135 next year, prolly fight Salido to get his feet wet at 35 + avenge his only loss - kills two birds with one stone right there. Loma finishes his career at 135 and maybe with a big fight with Davis near the end.Comment

Honestly, I'd like to see Loma fight for fifty years but well, it ain't happening.
I think being that he's 30, he should have maybe one unification at 130 and then head up to 135 in 2018.
Grab up a belt there from either of the champions since I don't think they stand a chance unless he's one of those guys who doesn't move up well.
Then of course Mikey at 135 by the end of the year.
If he gets by all that, which I think he can, I'd say maybe a unification or of course, there's a chance for a Mikey rematch, etc.
Given the talent pool at 140 being so thin and since he's said he wouldn't move up there anyway, he might not make it to four divisions.
Then again, if it stays that weak, I don't see why he couldn't.
Either way, he needs to try to do everything he can in the next two-three years IMO.Comment

I remember watching some interview few years ago with him and he said that his absolute max would be welter.
I personally think he could make welter by the end of his career. Just looking at rankings there are enough guys at Welter that are 5'7" and not much over...and look at Manny, but I think Manny is a physically stronger guy.
It would just be strange to see Loma that beefed up. He is fast enough now to still be fast at welter...anyway this is all speculation and would be fun to see.
I guess we really need to see how well he goes up in weight.
IF he goes to 135 and fights Mikey by the end of 2018 and actually wins, and if he wins he doesn't show that he is troubled by weight against someone like Mikey who we know is legit even at 140 I think he has a future at higher divisions.
But he does need to make smart moves, if his ego gets the best of him then he will be in trouble.Comment
