      Big year

Floyd is gone and the semi-superstars all need that big win or trilogy to be the face of boxing . Right now we have Canelo , AJ , Loma , TC , Mikey G. , Wilder and Andre Ward ( semi-retired) I believe he will be back . His going to let all the top fighters **** them self up then he will step in end of the year whoever is left with multiple belts . I also see Fury vs AJ end of the year and obviously GGG vs Canelo . Hopefully they don't have a sparring session again in may . Judges should all be outside of Las Vegas !!! I think we will great fight cause everyone wants that Mayweather spot light only way to get is winning in killer fashion against a A level fighter ...

Pretty hard to top this year boxing usually has a off year every other year but who knows if Spence/ Thurman/ Crawford fight each other, Joshua wilder, or Loma Mikey, could be a special year.

Theoretically, the HW, SMW, MW and WW divisions should all be unified but I doubt the champs at 147 all fight each other. I also doubt Wilder wants to really fight AJ and I'm not sure if Fury can ever come back fully.

So that leaves MW, where we have GGG who has fought everyone so I have no doubt he will at least WANT to unify. The ball is in BJS court. SMW will likely be unified following the final.

The issue however is the quality of these fights. AJ/Wlad was the first truly exceptional big fight in years, with almost every other big fight under delivering, some were just plain bad to watch.

It could be but you never know with boxing, everyone might decide to start ducking each other again. We'll have the WBSS semis and finals, which is great. Joshua will undoubtedly fight either Wilder or Fury before the year ends. Golovkin and Canelo will rematch. Sor Rungvisai vs Estrada. Haymon surely has got to make Spence vs Thurman. Gvozdyk will get his title shot (no easy routes). Stevenson vs Jack at LHW also. Charlo vs Hurd is fun. Selby vs Frampton is a big one for the UK. Lots of good stuff in the pipeline

Why isn't GGG on your list of semi-superstars? He is number 1 PFP on many lists and a 7 to 5 betting favorite to beat Canelo in the rematch. If he beats Canelo he will be as big a star as any boxer and bigger than most. I think Bivol will prove to be the best light heavyweight and if Ward comes back Bivol will knock him out.Ward retired undefeated but at no time was he a big star or a big money maker.

I doubt 2018 will be as good as 2017 because 2017 was excellent. It's always possible 2018 could be even better but not very likely. No one boxer is ever really the face of boxing. That is just an expression some people like to use. The top guys only fight twice a year so do all the boxing fans just wait around for this face of boxing guy to fight every 6 months or so? Boxing is a year round sport and to be a really good year you need lots of good fights between lots of good fighters. A couple of fights by one superstar won't alone make it a good year.
