It’s one thing to hear this kind of talk from a boxing promotor, but to hear it from Mikey himself? I don’t think so.
By the time Mayweather was Garcia’s age, he was fighting a mega-star in De La Hoya. Mikey has a small window to operate in, maybe five years, and I don’t see any star-making qualities or opportunities.Comment

Fighting nígga's like Fishnets you ain't. I know he's trying to get money, but he's trying to push his star card too hard. He should have taken that Cotto fight. He could get a super money fight if he had played that hand. Now he's fighting cats I never heard of.Last edited by McNulty; 12-21-2017, 10:46 AM.Comment

I dunno, i think facially he's ok but his hair makes him look a thousand times worse.
If he had a bit more of a decent/modern haircut, he would look okComment

I think it's hard to become a real superstar as a small fighter. I'm talking about Floyd/Manny levels, they were true crossover stars. Canelo is a big name within boxing, not a sporting superstar everywhere.
It's especially difficult if you're a small nice guy like Garcia. Manny was small and played the good guy role, but he had another superstar rival in Floyd who was seen as his opposite, so that enhanced both guys fame. There's always a few exceptions, but really there hasn't been many fighters in the last twenty years that have true crossover appeal.
Garcia doesn't have anything like that. He's just a nice/boring guy that is a very good fighter and that's how it will stay. Got to remember most casual sports fans don't care about the art of boxing, they care about characters and stories, i.e Floyd v McGregor. Mikey offers nothing to the average sports fan.Comment

You don't have a clue, your really naive enough to think fighters like Mikey get excited about thinking ANYONE will sign him despite him turning down huge contracts to remain a free agent...
