As far as career acompllishments go, RJJ is an all-time great at lightheavy and in general, but not at middleweight. Hopkins dominated the middleweight division from 94-2005. Ray Rob is the best welter of all-time, but not the best middleweight in my opinion. That honor goes to either Hagler or Hopkins. Both had very similar careers coincidentally.

Anytime a guy goes up in weight and does very well, especially when they do something historic, it makes their overall resume look better. This win takes the sting off of those two Taylor losses a bit. Hopkins is a career middleweight, so anything he does at a higher weight is relevant to his middleweight history in a way.

                  But in reality...it is not.
Hopkins win over tarver does not improve his resume as a middleweight.
But damn does it make Taylor look good.
