On January 27th at the "Fabulous" Forum in Inglewood, California, Argentinean puncher Lucas Matthysse (38-4, 35 KOs), who holds the WBA Inter-Continental and WBO International welterweight titles, will go against undefeated Thai superstar Tewa Kiram (38-0, 28 KOs). The HBO televised fight is scheduled for twelve rounds, and the World Boxing Association has sanctioned the bout for the vacant WBA "regular" welterweight title.

I think Matthyse is feeling good after his win over Emanuel Taylor. He didn't look particularly good in that fight and Taylor seemed like he was sleep walking. It's a different world at 147. I'm not sure he would get the same results against Peterson as he did in the first fight. Unless he's allowed to land rabbit punches like he did.Comment

I guess this is his last hurrah at a HIGHER division...after long periods of inactivity.
Lets see how it works out for him.
And what the HELL is a WBA "regular" welterweight title?
These alphabet soups are a real joke.Comment

So happy for Lucas, shame about the injury he suffered against Postol but he is an absolute warrior and fought the best at 140, anyone that denies that can f*** off. I would have like to have seen one more fight at 147 before the title shot but I hope he wins that belt he really deserves it.Comment
