Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Mikey Garcia Will Be Face of The Sport, Carry Boxing

Beating Sergey Lipinets on February 10 wouldn't just add a world title in a fourth weight class to Garcia's already-impressive resume. It'll strengthen Garcia's standing as a future superstar, according to Schaefer, whose company, Ring Star Sports, is the co-promoter of the Garcia-Lipinets card.

Schaefer is reaching with a 20ft pole. Mikey is a good fighter but I don't see him ever being the face of boxing.

Schaefer will do or say anything to be a major player in the fight game again.

agree! He's kind of stretching expectations here. In two years, loma schools him

Believe that is already being done by a certain red headed fighter by the name of Canelo.

He's not going to 147 unless it is against a guy who he has significant advantages over. He will not fight Bud at 147. I am a big Mikey fan, but I hate it when these promoters overreach. It kind of takes the fun out of being a fan because they have already out-crazied our crazy, if that makes any sense...

Everyone wants to be the face of boxing but they're taking long layoffs, fighting old men, and pretty much hi******* the sport for their own gain.
