I was a Rigo fan.I was a bigger fan of Loma but I thought Rigo was great too. Rigo's accomplishments in boxing haven't disappeared. It's just hard to stay a Rigo fan after such a poor performance in such an important fight. Before the fight he said he was going to win big. It wasn't just that he quit in the end that bothered me. He never put much effort into the fight from the first round to the end. He hardly threw any punches and spent most of the fight holding Loma's arm to stop him from hitting him. He never looked like he was trying to win the fight at any time. I am a fan of many boxers but if they fight the way Rigo fought against Loma I will be much less of a fan of any of my favorites. My loyalty has it's limits.
I'm here, he loss, actually quit. So what? You know how many boxers I have seen loss? Favorite fighters included. It doesn't do anything for me, one way or the other. I applaud him when he move two weight div. up. I knew all the odds was against him, i expected to lose, not like this though... But it is what it is.
If there was ever cause for a fighter to lose fans can anyone think of a better example? Maybe the way he conducted himself in the ring has put off his supporters?
