Comments Thread For: Diego De La Hoya Overweight, Fight Pulled From ESPN Card

The featherweight division is likely looming for Diego De La Hoya. He was scheduled to headline an ESPN 2 televised event on Thursday, with a bout against veteran Jose Salgado topping the Golden Boy promoted card in California. But the fight was been pulled after De La Hoya was not even close to the contract weight.

Shame. This was a his last showcase fight before his title eliminator. Diego has yet to ever had weight issues thus far in his career and having him on the ESPN platform again would have been a good look for him.

Diego in my opinion isn't yet ready for the featherweight division. Maybe him fighting 5 times this year was too much for him.

Bring him back either in February or March and see what happens.

These Golden Boy on Espn fights are low paying, similar to Friday night fights where Golden boy has their up and coming fighters on to showcase their skills while putting the big fights on Hbo. This giy probably figured its not worth a loss on his record for such a low paying fight. 4 pounds is a huge advantage but who knows how many pounds heavier he would have been for the fight.

I really cant wait to see more Top Rank on Espn fights. You Pbc fans can hate all you want but so far they have been putting on some pretty good fights. Espn is guaranteeing Top Rank 18 fights the first year alone, I hope they make it a fight a week or a fight every other week like Ufc. Top Rank continues to be the best in the game and they have all the best fighters of this generation and a lot of prospects like stevenson and Conlan. This has been a good year in boxing and it looks like 2018 is starting off with some great fights
