According to Pedro Diaz, Rigo felt that there was something wrong with his hand in the 2nd round. Maybe this took away his focus a little bit and couldn't implement the game plan or the tactics.
Lomachenko was very effective throughout the whole fight and in the 6th round Rigo received a strong punch (he is likely talking about the punch after the bell which wasn't strong as shown in the video) and up until this point Rigo was being outclassed technically, and he wasn't competitive so we decided to stop the fight.
He said they knew they were facing Lomachenko and they were going up to 2 weight classes, however, the way the fight was going, it wasn't a very close fight, it was a one-sided fight and they decided to stop it.
Rigo didn't give up...he said that sometimes facial expressions tell you more than words and in this case they recognize that Lomachenko is a great fighter and Rigo was coming up 2 weight classes, we don't want to justify the loss, Loma is a great boxer.
I wonder if he still thinks Donaire is better than Loma?
