Do you think Floyd Mayweather being super-rich could be a gimmick?

Just consider for a minute. Could he have been an experiment in trying to generate crossover hype? Constantly telling us how much money he makes and how much he earns, despite being widely unpopular? Blatantly cherry-picking rathe than legacy building.

Could all the cars be hired/props? The private jets? The piles of cash which actually only equate to a few hundred grand? I've seen similar stacks on Netflix. What about when Conor snatched the bag and it had about $2,000? Could everything just be loaned to him for gimmick purposes?

An interesting thought. The most effective way to brainwash people with a lie is repetition. How many times do we hear Floyd talk about how rich he is and how much money he makes? The betting slips he likes to post have already been proven fake on several occasions.

It is definately a gimmick, I'm just not sure to what extent. They tell us Floyd is super rich and he does great numbers, etc. In my opinion the biggest buzz of his career was the Ricky Hatton fight. I doubt Mayweather ever done close to say, Mike Tyson figures. He just didn't create that buzz.

I reckon we've been lied to. I doubt we'll ever find out the truth if his real career earnings are maybe $40 million to $50 million.

Man, I am going to say this, as a grown ass man why are you even asking this? The guy trained his entire life to be the best he could be and accomplished it. The man had a dream and actually lived it and you are trying to down him??? WHY?? Seriously the guy took risks and WON!!! Threads like this make it look like you should never dare to be great and winning is a bad thing...Why the hate for Mayweather?? he took his career in his own hands and came out on top..shouldnt we as fans be happy the actually fighter got the money instead of a fat ass promoter getting paid for nothing?

Who’d care enough to write all that gibberish is the question? If boxingscene was serious you’d be flooded w/ red Ks. Ricky Hatton lol. Worry about dope fiend cheater Fury. He said he was a clean champion. I reckon we’ve been lied to.

Here we have a prime example of a brain-washed fiend. Another tactic of these people, you are not allowed to question anything. It is incredibly disrespectful to ask logical questions, because things start to not add up.

I am not knocking Floyd's resume, I do class him as a great of his era. Could he have made better fights for the fans/his legacy if his sole motivation wasn't money? Most definately.

Def not a gimmick. You can't lie about ppv numbers and how much they generate. We know Loma got 1 million to fight rigo .. how many higher profile defences did flloyd make?

Plus he had his own promotor company. He gets a bigger percentage.

Its a weird question to ask imo. $2000 is a lot of money to me. Maidana made enough to retire off two fights with Mayweather , would you question his wealth too?

Edit - 50million is a lot of money and if you were to question his earning you would have to question every other athlete which has been posted on the Forbes richest list , every music artist and performer too. Why just flloyd ? If it turned out Forbes mag was not a reliable source or for example Dana White , the UFC , football teams etc lied about income , do you know the kind of legal complications this would have? Transparency is key to a business' success

Why hate on a boxer for figuring out how to get what he is worth without a promoter? Others tried and failed (Hopkins,Jones) Mayweather mastered it

I'm not hating on anybody. Just asking questions that I feel are relevant. I'm sorry if this is like finding out Father Christmas ain't real for a few of you.
