  • Comments Thread For: When is a Loss Not a Loss?

By Tris Dixon - WHAT does a loss mean for a fighter? What should a loss mean? Too often, in today's era of padded records and multi-weight division titleholders who do not have a defining win to their name, a loss marks the end. A rebuilding job has to be undertaken but you will never be allowed to shake an off night or a defeat...

Blame the promoters. If guys actually fought each other we wouldn't view singular losses so poorly. Guys get away with it in MMA because it's a more volatile sport but if a top guy loses to another top guy it's not the end for him. There is always a way back up. Promoters did this to themselves.

Salido beat Loma fair and square. Time to quit crying about it.

I think the decision was terrible. And the ref even more so. But am I crying about it? No, only autistic boxing 'fans' care so much about fighter's records. Unfortunately we got plenty of them. Oh, racist ones, too.

Losing is not a big a sin . Its HOW you lose that can determine the severity of that sin and potentially hurt your career in this business.

Danny Jacobs' loss to GGG enhanced his profile and career.

Whatever you do, always think twice before you quit. That is the one sin that can be tough to shake off!!

It is the ultimate sin in boxing. Excuses, no matter how justified, be damned.

so he got hit with 3 low blows in a row and bent over in pain and the ref thinks hes checking out?

floyd checking out. ref pulling judah off him and giving juadh the ko win

                  Lol still mad.

                  Kovalev didn’t want it.

2 out of the 3 punches were legit body shots.

                  Last one was borderline.

Some people just can’t accept when their favourite fighter loses.

What about the first fight, robbery??

the back fire effect is a powerful thing and im not going to try and convince you since you will only become more defensive. the judah-floyd ko wasn't low btw. floyd didn't want it. judah was robbed of a ko to protect the a-side. we are just 2 reasonable people talking boxing.

course the first fight was a robbery. ward got outlanded in nearly every single round and held nonstop. not really the ingredients for a win unless you factor in BONUS SLICK BOXER POINTS! lets see kovalev had none of those and ward had 7 billion. not a close fight
