The exposure is so much greater.

My brother and all his buddies are football players. Never followed boxing and now they love lomachenko because they saw him fight on ESPN
That's how it was back in the day. I remember just flicking through regular TV in the UK and stumbling on a great fight between Eubank and Nigel Benn and was hooked.

Actually it is what Bob Arum tries to implement. You can listen for yourself, if you like. A great podcast, imho.

I hope Top Rank doesn't squander all this goodwill and puts up more compelling fights in the future. No excuses for Rigo/ Loma but I watched the entire card and all of the fights were less than interesting. Shakur put a paint job on the guy, Mick Conlan slept walked thru a round counting sparring session and the Puerto Rican guy was WAY too emotional for knocking out a guy they called on Tuesday to fill in for whoever dropped out. Even Bud's brief interview was a bummer because he wouldn't call out any of Al Haymon's guys despite Stephen A. Smith going into his usual conniptions in an attempt to get a rise out of him.

Santa Cruz vs Mares was one of the highest rated fights for them before Top Rank. Plus it is hard to make big fights when you are the one paying for the time slot. PBC paved the way for Top Rank to do what they are doing now.
