Comments Thread For: Povetkin Hoping Victory With Hammer Will Secure Joshua Title Shot

Former world champion Alexander Povetkin (32-1, 23 KOs) is hoping that a victory in his upcoming eliminator with Christina Hammer will lead to a world title showdown. Povetkin will collide with Hammer on December 15 in Moscow, Russia. The fight has already been sanctioned as a final WBO final eliminator for a crack at champion Joseph Parker.

You'd have to be a complete wanker not to like this fight. They're clearly the best 2 in the division with Fury missing.

Correct your article to Christian Hammer. Haha the funny part was that when I googled Christina Hammer, she is also a current undefeated world champion Boxer in the super MW division haha.

Like how he beheaded Carlos Takam (Povetkin's ACTUAL KO victim who he ACTUALLY knocked down for the 10 count whilst Joshua needed a typical 'British stoppage' against an older Takam)?

Are you seriously implying modern super heavyweights like Joshua is not juicing either?

I personally think this is a 50/50 match up if it happens early next year. However, if it happens in late 2018, then I would make Joshua the slight favorite. If it happened this year, I would've made Povetkin the slight favorite.

Either way, it is definitely one of the most competitive match ups out there for Joshua. Those other official champs probably get destroyed pretty easily like Wilder and Parker (as of now). Povetkin would be the biggest threat and the riskiest opponent for Joshua.
