Golovkin v. Paul Williams (Pre Martinez KO)

Fantasy match up between Golovkin and Paul Williams PRE MARTINEZ KO. Williams wasn't quite the same after that knockout. I don't think anyone ever made a thread of this before.

Williams did quite a bit of weight jumping but was definitely big enough to fight at 160.

This would've been one hell of a slugfest. Williams was a warrior in his day and one of my favorite fighters. It's a real shame about his accident although it turns out he wasn't planning on fighting much longer. He burned himself out too quickly.

Would make for a great fight but I doubt Williams could handle the punches. Golovkin by KO with Williams maybe winning some rounds.

GGG knocks him out just like Serg did. Paul was too much there to get caught cleanly, he never fought as a tall fighter, but would've been fun while it lasted.

williams activity and height would probably be a hassle early, but the guy wasn't all that hard to hit with pot shots because he was such a big target that fought short, and a southpaw.


golovkin was a better middleweigh than williams without a doubt. williams best weight would have been WW, where he had trouble getting fights and sticking around because he was so goddamn enormous. didn't get a ton of signfican't fights there, as cotto, pacquiao, and mayweather had no intention of fighting a guy that big. no diea how that guy weighed 147 lbs. i don't think he'd beat mayweather or cotto, but i understand why they avoided a middleweight southpaw with an iron chin and who threw a ton of punches. who wouldn't?
