Comments Thread For: Examining Loma-Rigo: Can the Ultimate Fight Fan's Fight Deliver?

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK Two truly great boxers will square off Saturday night in a 130-pound showdown that has generated incredible buzz among hardcore fight fans. That much is indisputable. Ukraine's Vasyl Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs) and Cuba's Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs, 1 NC) are ranked among the top 10 boxers in the world on every credible pound-for-pound list. And it took just three days to sell out the 5,200-seat Theater at Madison Square Garden once tickets went on sale for this excellent encounter in September...

I don't see how this can be a dull fight. It should be edge of your seat stuff...

I expect rigo to showcase once again his patented ring style: running and hugging.

With their styles I expect a Gatti-Ward type of WAR, for this reason ESPN executives had to replace Teddy Atlast to save him from a stroke as they feared this fight would trigger him into a uncontrollable murderous rage during the telecast.

But seriously I'm just hoping to see Shakur Stevenson and if we are lucky Bryant Jennings on TV.

I think this will be entertaining for the casuals. Loma is a high output fighter whether he is on front or back foot.

If he wins it will probably be entertaining.

If Rigo wins you will be witnessing greatness, which is always entertaining

Im sure Shakur and Conlan will be on TV, they are two of Bobs high profile prospects and I bet he is paying them a fair whack.

Only way it would be Gatti-Ward would be if they both got drunk before the fight.

Not down-playing Gatti-Ward in anyway, but both Gatti and Ward were fairly limited in the silky skills department and their styles just meshed to create the wars of attrition that they created - and for anyone who hasn't seen the Gatti-Ward fights, its a must watch and will have you saying 'holy cow' (or equivalent) multiple times.

... "Rigondeaux has boxed a total of three rounds in the past two years."

Aye I got to remember to watch that Conland kid, I heard good things from his brother something about being a world amateur champion, signed with Toprank and being groomed in America -- thats what I'm talking about no Mismatchroom **** going on.

Whoever hasn't seen Gatti-Ward trilogy is not a fan of boxing.

I think Stevenson looks better, but Conlan is decent. If he shows half the heart of his brother Jamie, with the added skillset from being a top level amateur, he could be a serious prospect going forward. Already mid 20's though so I hope they can move him relatively quickly. Not Loma pace or anything, just dont take years fighting nobodies
