It's not that important as all those kick ass short guys you listed show. Some boxers with a long reach combined with good fast straight punches can be very effective like Hearns and Bob Foster but they can be beat by the right shorter boxer with less reach.

How about Loma vs Walters, how did Walters fare with his reach, he did use very good distance against Donaire.
How about Ricky Hatton against Pauli who knew how to use his reach. Ricky boxed him from the outside as if he had the reach advantage.
Do you feel ****** now?

when skill level is equal, height and reach definitely do matter. All in all it depends on how they use the size to their advantage.

Any physical attribute can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on how you fight and how good you utilize your attributes. There are limits though especially if you're naturally too small for the weight class and you're fighting naturally much bigger guys who punch a lot harder and can take a punch much more while you're carrying unnecessary weight. We've seen exceptions to the rule like with everything in life but physical aspects do matter in a sport as competitive as boxing.

You can dig for exceptions for anything but it doesn't change the basic truths of boxing.
Speaking of which, Valuev is a perfect example for a tall ass dude that could’ve been great had he any inclination of how to setup range finding like Wilder or a Klitschko or Lewis...but no hyped steroid caveman gonna do that
I AGree. One particular fighter who uses it all to his advantage is Kovalev, he can bend his torso, fake, and use angles rather gracefully, and he can bend backwards on the pounce for incoming attacks. This is why he was able to fold most guys. Ward is a different IQ in the ring, so what do you do against taller guys, brawl in the inside as it’s harder for lengthier fighters to setup shots inside.
Again, Paul Williams is another good examples vs Lara. Lara, because of the Cuban ring IQ and southie vs southie played its dynamic..
A****sa vs Rigo, same as Lara example, though Rigo stopped a guy coming in 140+ in the ring...
JCC Jr. vs Nelo, or Martinez, a smart JCC jr. that came to fight like agaisnt Lee would’ve fared well...
Andy Lee vs Korobov...reach, Lee’s lengthy hook blasts guys out with both hands...
Buster Douglas vs Tyson, a real sequential jab that neutralized Iron Mike, but Lil’G fans act like they know boxing with some lazy jab that was supposed to be the reason he “beat” Nelo..
Robert Easter Jr... well rounded jabber..
Andrade I expect to be a threat at 160...ironically he tamed a 6’4 Fox just recently...
Postol, best example to use his reach height against Selçuk Aydın, boxed circles and against Matthyse..
