Carrying an opponent is NOT illegal

I can openly say that because if I'm good enough to step on the gas in round five and force the stoppage then that's my privilege.

And that's what I did in this particular fight at the Arena for the Commonwealth title defence.

But the problem with that is I held him up in round four.

He was there for the taking and I held him up, I got him with a shot, I could have ended up getting done myself in round four.

It's not only not illegal, it's about impossible to prove. Only the boxer himself knows for sure if he is carrying his opponent. Others are just guessing.

Indeed. Plus it can't really be considered a fix because the loser isn't choosing to get knocked out, so even if one guy feels carrying the other, there's no certainty about the outcome. There's nothing definitive about it.

You can tell when someone is letting a fight go longer then it should

It always makes me wonder when I see a guy who seems to be dominating sort of back off when the other guy hasn't done anything to bring about the change.

One possibility can be a fix, but there are so many more.

The guy could be carrying his opponent.

The guy might have hurt his hand.

The guy may have gassed himself, although that's usually somewhat visible.

It's hard to say really, but carrying has always gone on and it always will. Definitely not illegal.
