The real question is Sterfloyd vs the last serious Welterweight era, which he ducked.

    Felix Trinidad

    Ike Quartey

    Oscar De La Hoya

were all undefeated belt holders at once. Sweat Pea Whitaker, Jose luis Lopez, Mararito.....these guys were lurking in the shadows.

Sterfloyd Mayweather Jr would have been 21-3, fighting Oba Carr for the USBA title on Tuesday Night Fights as a Welterweight in that era.

Floyd is a genuine top 10 ATG fighter. There are some quality fighters at 147 and 154 (a weight he is too small for by the way). Let's put it this way, I'd take him over anyone right now though it wouldn't be easy.

Too small to fight guys like Jermall at 154.

Hell, even Spence would outweigh him by a big amount and give him a hell of a fight.

Trinidad last WW fight was in 1999
De La Hoya in 2001 (before he killed himself for Pacquiao)
            Quartey 2000

Mayweather didn't even move to 140 until 2004. How is it possible for him to have ducked them?

He never cleared out any division in his career.
                He just cherry picked fights.

                Spence
                Crawford
                Thurman

All beat him, easy work for them.

                Spence stops him.

And as weak as 154lbs is at the moment Charlo and Lara beat him on pts.

Floyd was a very well managed fighter.

Floyd chose to fight tiny featherweights and beat up cancer patients like Genaro Hernandez rather than fight the real men his size. Once they were all done killing each other, the vulture Floyd roided up and moved in.
