Madison Square Garden, New York City - Sadam Ali (26-1, 14 KOs) boxed his way to a twelve round unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto (41-6, 33KOs) to capture the WBO junior middleweight title. The scores were 115-113, 116-112 and 115-113 for Ali. Cotto is hanging up his gloves after 17 years. The 37-year-old has fought ten times at the Garden, registering an 9-1 record. The only Purerto Rican male fighter to become a four-division, six-time world champion. Cotto has held titles in the super lightweight, welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight divisions.
