Can Rigo end up like Roman Gonzalez?!

Can Rigo end up like Roman 'Chocolotito' Gonzalez?!

Roman Gonzalez was considered as P4P best but he lost when he decided to move up in weight to fight Rungsivai.

& right now Rigondeaux is doing basically the same thing... He is moving up for 2 weight divisions to fight Loma at 130.

Can Rigondeaux end up like Roman Gonzalez against Lomachenko?

Well Chocolatito had won titles and become the universally recognized #1 in four weights in addition to fighting multiple tough opponents. He had a great resume.

Rigondeaux won one fight nearly 5 years ago and engaged in Twitter fights whilst turning down the fights when they were offered to you since then.

But yeah Rigo will end up getting whupped. Chocolatito at least got robbed in fight I before being bludgeoned in fight II.

Rigo will carry his power up to 130 because his power comes from his technique

Also roman more of inside fighter than rigo who never fights inside so romans style wasnt as effective vs bigger guys...rigo is gonna be moving around and potshotting vs loma

Gonzalez did well jumping weight classes, but rigo has the better style to do it.

Gonzalez is a very physical fighter and constantly in your face. It was inevitable that he would eventually face someone who is big enough to take his heat and give it right back.

Rigo doesn't use physicality to win his fights. He is a very sharp counterpuncher who has very good footwork to avoid exchanges.
Combined with the size advantage I think lomas comparable quickness and workrate will be very tough to deal with for rigo.

Gonzalez was knocked out at age 30. Rigo is still unbeaten at age 37. Gonzalez has many more pro fights. Rigo is smart enough to return to 122 which he makes wit ease should he lose to Loma and probably even if he wins. Rigo is better than Gonzalez in my opinion. Could he get KOed by the much younger naturally bigger Loma? I think that could happen but losing by KO to a great bigger man at 37 is not as bad as 30 year old Gonzalez getting KOed so quickly by a good fighter.

So, the simple answer is no. Too sharp, too slick, too well-schooled.

Roman Gonzalez basically fought like a James Toney with leaky defense; once the reflexes start to go, and you're in there with a clearly bigger fighter only looking to bull forward, you get what you get.

It's certainly possible. The fact that he hasn't fought very often is as big a concern as the move up in weight. That's why I can only see Loma stopping him.

I still dont know why he looked like that in the rematch. I mean just before the fight. He looked like he was about to cry and he looked defeated before the match even started. Never seen a top fighter like that before a match. I doubt it was a confidence issue either since he had already fought the guy once before and many people thought he should have won that match
