Comments Thread For: Marquez's Trainer Regrets That Cotto Fight Never Happened

Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, who was the career long trainer of former division champion Juan Manuel Marquez, regrets that his boxer never fought Miguel Cotto. Cotto, also a former four division world champion, will retire on Saturday night in the aftermath of his final career fight against Sadam Ali - taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Nacho has been pretty vocal that he felt Cotto won that fight and was robbed.

...Nacho is a stand-up guy, and he's right, but there's no way Cotto could win against Marquez...Pacquiao fcuked Cotto up up pretty easy until the ref saved his ass, a bloody mess..and Marquez fought Pacquiao three times before knocking the pinoy legend out cold in their fourth fight..Marquez would've bloodied Cotto up with precision and expert timing thus forcing a stoppage...

you are aware that boxing doesn't work that way right? I mean, Marquez ko'd pac but then got beaten by Bradley in his next fight who pac beat shortly after that. Hopkins lost to Jermaine taylor twice, who then got kod by Pavlik who then got schooled by Hopkins.

It's interesting to see this week just on this site how well respected and established people in all areas of boxing have been highly commending of cotto & his career such as nacho, Canelo, Spence, Warren etc. Yet you get the "fans" who have never boxed in their life typing away on their phones that are still on their mom's sprint family plan trying to bash him.
