Tito is my favorite pr fighter
But i think tito snr is a little jealous of cotto and his financial status
Its no secret trinidad is broke and cotto got money etc
Tito and cotto are thr biggest names of there homeland but wilf benitez was the best fighter from there country fighting v imo best of all time sugar ray and beating fellow top ten all time duran cotto lost all his big fights tito had the wins over oscar and a shot whitaker but rest of his career wins were average fighters winky wright and bhop both beating him
One of several massively over hyped uk heavy weight fighters who are completely useless.
Whyte, bellew , Audrey Harrison, the list goes on.
wtf that got to do with this article? Bellew is a light heavy trying his luck for extra cash before he retires at the money division was roy jones a heavyweight? Harrison won gold at 2000 olympics so hype was built of the fact he was the first uk fighter to win gold and whyte gave aj a run for his money in his only defeat wouldnt say he was hyped but deserves a top ten spot in division for beating chisura helinus allen lawinson
Tan since the defeat respect were its due
Not sure what the beef is. Tito isn't the first PR champion that became a big name but he is the first that became a big enough name to head his own PPVs as the A side. And in part, his success at msg and as a ppv star is what caused top rank to take it to the next level with cotto. These are facts, not opinions.
I think you need to look up the definition of the word fact. There is no way to quantify Trinidads affect on Cottos success. With that being the case, this makes it an opinion. With this thinking, we can say De La Hoya is the reason Trinidad became a PPV star, there for Cotto should be thankful that De La Hoya pathed the way. See how silly the notion is. Interjecting one's self or one's son into the success of another is not only disrespectful, and self glorification, but it is also diverged of reality for two reasons, 1) Cotto's hardwork and struggle. 2) the assumption that all Cotto's fans were fans of Trinidad.

He lost to Roy Jones to, but You have to give him credit for defeating Uri boy, and Camacho. The other thing is, Trinidad fought a fighter with 20 losses after Trinidad was already a fully established top fighter, I mean we're talking about the 8th defense of his world title. People on here like to give Cotto schit for fighting Rodriguez coming off of two losses, Kamagai off of 2 years of inactivity, Ali as a retirement fight, yet Cotto never fought a fighter with 20 losses. Imagine if Cotto defended his title against a fighter with 20 losses, NSB would crash.

Trinidad is the first fighter from PR to be a successful ppv star =Fact. Trinidad was filling up msg vs Whitaker, joppy and Hopkins before cotto ever fought there =fact. And if you don't think arum noticed and followed suit with cotto, then you're fooling yourself. With that being said, cotto obviously had to do his own part in order to he a success and draw crowds. It wouldnt just happen because he was from PR and was coming in after titos generation. I myself went from attending Trinidad fights at msg to then going to every fight cotto had at msg And a large part of the reason I began attending cotto fights was because of the impact and crowd that tito drew in the late 90s and early 2000s.
