If it brings numbers in, then sure.

So does this mean UFC is dying? I always heard that their numbers weren't doing well 'this year. Is this White trying to jump ship?

I'm sure when UFC fans hear Dana's name attached they'll tune in.

I don't agree that the two are carbon copies. Arum is a greaseball and De La Hoya is deranged. Smash them together though and you get Don King.

There are some very interesting scenarios that become possible if Dana and Al combine forces. Doesn't mean it'll happen, but they'd both be idiots to not explore it. UFC wants to take over boxing and Al manages almost every top American fighter. UFC could literally launch a UFC style boxing league almost overnight if they had the exclusive on Al's stable.
The only way White gets into boxing is if he does what? He'll have to get a TV deal? That's all he can really do. I guess if he partners with someone and has a TV contract or something it'll work for him. But I mean, it's not UFC. The economics are completely different in boxing. It's not like he's going to "manage" fighters or anything. He'll learn what it's really like matchmaking. It's not easy like the UFC is where he can tell anybody to fight anybody at any time and pay them ****.

Basically last August, White, McGregor, and all other MMA guys who were involved saw what it really was like being around a big Boxing event and were in awe. Especially the guys who made some good money out of it. McGregor, for as ****ty of a boxer he is, made a lot of money and could never fight for MMA peanuts again.

Hate to bring this up to the MMA fanboys, but they saw what it was like to be in the big leagues. It's ultimately proven my meritocracy point I've been trying to explain to people for years.

When I first read the headline I was laughing so hard and shocked, but I misread the De La coo coo for De La Co Co as in *******. While coo coo is funny enough Coco would have been better and a stab at this guy who only wants "whats best for boxing".

The "UFC makes the best fight the best" narrative needs to end. UFC's best taking on the best stopped years ago.

Now it's all about promotional stunts and money matchups.
                Bisping vs. GSP? Please.
Holly Holm is 1-3 in her last 4 fights and has never won at featherweight but she is given a title shot.
Diaz hasn’t beaten a real welterweight in over 5 years but he is given a title shot.
Conor holding 2 belts and defending neither of them.

                There are hundreds of examples.

UFC even now has the same interim title bull**** that plagues boxing.

Until Conor fights Khabib, plus about a dozen other overdue matchups, don't tell me UFC fights are the best vs. the best.

Works with what he's got and makes the best of the available. Tough to argue, but I'm sure you will ; )
