ruiz did a lot of hugging and had a "lazy" style but I can't recall if he pulled specialized ward moves like headbutting the groin or scoring a KO via an uppercut to the bottom of the athletic cup

Two of the worst and ugliest styles in recent times. Except one was shamed and ridiculed (rightfully) and the other was shoved down out throats as a crowd pleaser with a beautiful style and fought clean.

I will probably never re-watch any of either's fights again and usually used to skip them on TV due to how ugly their fights were. At least Ruiz never begged to be loved and had limited skills. Ward had skills and athletic ability and still fought like that.

better at what? fouling? probably. he definitely had more fouls in his bag. jumping headfirst into his opponents without throwing punches, headbutting groins, leg tackling, low blow assault, etc...
