Sergey Kovalev: The questions surrounding Kovalev after his back-to-back losses to Andre Ward were understandable, particularly the second setback. Many believe the Russian quit in that fight, raising doubts about his desire. I couldn't understand those who wrote him off, though. Consider: The only losses of Kovalev's career came against a gifted fighter who retired in September as the No. 1 fighter in the world pound-for-pound. And most people thought Kovalev won the first fight, in which he came closer to beating Ward than anyone before him.

Great assessment. In fact, the general boxing audience has been lulled into a false sense of complacency that all KO artists are gifted boxers. Deontay Wilder immediately comes to mind. Bivol and Bieterbiev also come to mind. None of these guys have fought a top ten fighter. Except Wilder but that was Stiverne. nuff said. Kovalev is an excellent boxer with a KO punch. I see him owning all the LHW belts, unless the promoters of these other guys duck him. Kov on track is not a guy to want to face if a loss is unacceptable to you or your fighter.
