Comments Thread For: Kovalev: Loss to Ward in Our Rematch Didn't Break Me Mentally

It's good, no mention of low blows or dodgy score cards just looking at his own responsibility in the losses, I like it.Comment

If anyone's being honest, they should know that the bout was decided by a low blow. Thus, there is no objective reason as to why Kovalev should've been affected mentally when Ward was given the stoppage after landing a low blow.Comment

Now this is what it means to take responsibility. Good for Sergey. He's not blaming anyone but himself for the losses to Andre Ward. Take note, Kathy Duva. And for all the Andre Ward haters out there, notice Sergey is acknowledging that he lost the fights. You should do the same.Comment

The monastery was for personal reasons, you know, such as his alcoholism, and possibly other bad habits. Ward landed the best straight right of his career, and it wobbled Kovalev slightly, so he then had to go land nut shots in a desperate attempt, which he was already doing throughout the whole fight anyway... But you keep doing you.Comment

An ape could learn to spell better than you, moron. Comparing you to a monkey would be an insult to the monkey.Comment

why would it break him mentally? ward never legitimately beat him. That was one of the most comical stoppages ive seen in my life.Comment

I don't buy Kovalev's story. How does a fighter not train to the max for the most important fight of his career? On top of that, it don't take a genius to know Ward's style is about outlasting his opponent in a war of attrition and you better be prepared for 12 rounds of wrestling.
Finally you had to know Ward was going to train his behind off for the rematch to prove he deserved the decision in the first fight.
Kovalev will beat Shabransky, but if he couldn't get motivated to train for Ward, he should walk away from the sport.Comment
