Considering the other 34 wins in a row and Ward promptly retiring ... I cannot think of a more deserving fighter at this point. I give a LOT of credit to Ward, even if the first fight was not scored well. If Kov is damaged goods, then I will eat my words, but I find that hard to believe.

Exactly! this piece of **** racist should be fighting Oleksandr Gvozdyk in a eliminator and then the winner faces the American Marcus Browne for a title -- it does not matter which it is.

Nobody wants to see Kovalev taking up some useless tune up fights. He's still the man in the division after Ward retired. He should be able to fight for the title.

Browne lost to Kalajdžić. That was a huge robbery. He doesn't deserve these prestigious fights like Gvozdyk or Kovalev.

Marcus Browne, Badou Jack, Sullivan Barrera, Olexander Gvozdyk, Artur Beterbiev, just to name a few a far from 'useless' tune-ups and frankly are more deserving of the WBO, but this is HBO's doing trying to convince the public that they are providing its subscribers elite championship fights, so they have to attach a phony belt around Kovalev to create the illusion that hes back to 'Krushing' cans.
