The version of Ray Robinson that had just beaten LaMotta in 1942 vs the Hearns that had just lost to Leonard in 1981.

I'm not handicapping Hearns by picking a year he lost in, it was merely his last year at welterweight and he had the fight in the bag against Leonard but fizzled in those last few rounds. It was more of what Ray did, not what Hearns didn't do.





Hard for me to pick a winner. My gut says Robinson by late tko, but maybe Hearns gets Ray out early or outboxes him through 15. Very even match-up here.

I think Robinsons adaptability, durability, power and stamina would see him take it late after struggling early with Hearns freakish size, reach and power.

Robinson has one of the goat chins so I cant see him being stopped. Hearns unfortunately struggled with durability at the top level, and once these atg punchers get to trading I can only see one winner

I voted for Hearns to win a close fight. I think Hearns was better a few fights before he fought Leonard. When he fought Leonard the first time he had outgrown welterweight and was weight drained which cost him in the late rounds. He moved up to 154 right after the loss to Leonard. He deserved to win the rematch with Leonard but had to settle for a draw. Robinson threw wide punches and I think Hearns could land his long straight punches down the middle between Robinson's wide hooks.

Robinson has a better body of work, but Hearns is the matchup king for me at 147. Only 55-45 split, mind.

Robinson was the more versatile fighter and I think he would make it a brawl at mid to short range to take away Tommy's weapons coming in from Mars. Hearns did fade sometimes in the latter rounds. Robinson's work rate would contribute to that... unless Ray himself got KOed in the early rounds.

1ST off Hearns was better at 54 then 47 and I doubt there is many if any posters on here who are bigger fans of THE HITMAN then me.But Rob was all wrong for Tommy hit too hard and had to good of chin not counting all his other skills.But at 54 Rob would know he had been in a fight that's my 2 cents.

Robinson was such a versatile fighter, the man had literally so many more tools to dispatch of Hearns and that's no knock against Tommy. It's just that Robinson made a living off of capatlizing against opponents of Tommy's fighting style and even some with a better chin (Lamotta ).

A fun fantasy fight for me was always Tito Trinidad vs Tommy Hearns.

It hurts me to admit this because Hearns is one if my favorite fighters. All time. SRR was an incredible fighter. He would have the fight if his life on his hands but he'd win. Tommy could be hurt to the body. I think hurt more at 147.

Love this match up. Would be a thriller for sure. If Hearns trades often he gets put down within 6.

If he boxes smart I think he could be winning a landslide unless Robinson starts putting on some serious pressure and gets him out of there late.

Would of been an amazing fight.
