why the **** is the WBC creating an interim belt ??

Because everybody would be going nuts bashing them if they stripped GGG for giving Canelo a rematch.

GGG's WBC mandatory is overdue. Charlo has been waiting for his shot. Charlo agreed to allow the Canelo rematch if he would be allowed to fight the leading available contender for the interim title. The WBC's #1 job is to mediate between rival promoters/managers/fighters to keep the sport flowing. This is the solution that was required to not risk the incredible public outrage there would have been if GGG was stripped for not fighting Charlo next.

And from Charlo's perspective, by winning the interim title, he's now gets 45% instead of 30% against the winner of GGG-Canelo II. So this is a great situation for Charlo.
