I compare this to Mike McCallum vs Julian Jackson with Spence Jr being McCallum and Thurman being Jackson but with a better chin.

I think Thurman starts fast and looks dominating early with a big Speed advantage but then slows from the body work and finds it hard to work off of his backfoot vs Spence Jr for 12 Rounds because of the Body Work. While Spence Jr Defense is not flashy, what he does is catch and shoot very well, has a good high Guard to walk his opponent down and break them down. Other than maybe Shawn Porter...the other Welterweights are not as physically BIG or STRONG as Kell Brook. I doubt they will be able to hold up like he was able to hold up based on STYLE! Brook despite coming down was extremely big and strong in that fight and at the same time I don't know if many Welterweights would've been able to take what Brook Dished out early in that fight as well! Spence Jr did and just broke Brook down to the body.

I think Spence will beat Thurman up ... probably a TKO, but otherwise a strong UD. Kell Brook had fine moments against Spence true, but I think Brook would also win (at least before the eye socket injuries) against Thurman. Thurman did not/could not handle Porter the way Brook did. Brook is a very good boxer with power ... however Spence pressed thru and buried him. No question Spence will do the same (probably easier) with Thurman.

We've yet to see if Thurman will come back at the same level anyway. But if he does, Spence still powers through him. Thurman will be able to hit Spence (any good boxer will) but it would never be enough to hold Spence off.

Thurman will using his feet against Spence and not let him trap him on the ropes.
Yeah agreed, I dont think Brook has the best footwork to begin with but what really lets him down is his lack of stamina. Spence in fairness was landing some vicious body shots.

This is why I think Thurman beats Spence, he has good footwork and has the ability to outbox Spence like Brook was doing in periods of the fight.

Every top fighter is considered "overrated" by a segment of "fans" that don't like said fighter, and as long as they win, that segment grumbles to themselves...it's only when the fighter loses, that you hear the "overrated" chants.

Perhaps that is why many fighters avoid tough fights nowadays for fear of being called "overrated" once they lose. The thing about spence though, it seems he wants the best guys at ww...like him or not, you've got to respect that from fighters that have that mentality in today's boxing world.
No, back in the day, fans understood that boxers weren't invincible. In the current era, every fighter is unbeatable. A perfect example is Terence Crawford. Now, this is a guy who is a highly skilled fighter but hasn't even fought anyone on Porter or Amir Khan's level, yet people think he is going to just go up to 147 and dominate. Same with Spence. Spence is a great fighter but I do not see him just running through Thurman and I do not think he should be the clear favorite since Thurman is the more skilled and more well-rounded fighter.

Interesting assessment. This is a realistic outcome but there is one thing you are forgetting. We saw, in the Porter fight, that when you try to take Thurman out he will turn into an animal and bite back. I know a lot of you guys don't want to admit it but Thurman has dog in him. He is not this pretty boy type of fighter that you guys make him out to be. He adjusts well to his opponent. For all the love that Crawford gets I do not think he would've been able to handle the pressure of Porter quite as well as Thurman did that night. That's what makes Thurman truly special. But I do think this is the most legit 50/50 fight out there. Like the Jackson and G-Man analogy by the way.

Thurman has more tools than Brook plus he is a lot more athletic and better at fighting on the inside and midrange. Thurman has more power and puts more leverage on his opponents. He cannot cut off the ring like Spence but If Thurman would've fought Brook, he would've damaged BRook's eye like Golovkin did. I was more impressed with the way Keith handled Porter compared to how Brook handled Porter. Brook just clinched his life away white Thurman showed that he has a lot of dog in him. It's kind of like Marvin Hagler and Tito. When you hurt those type of guys they always come back and bite back harder.

Spence will have his hands full when he faces Peterson.
Let's see how he does with Lamont's swarming style.

IDK. But that fight will show how Spence would do against Crawford

Exactly, it's cool if people favour Spence, but the way people talk about the fight it's like Thurman is some homeless man they found on a street corner, the man is a unified champ in the most stacked division in boxing, he's battle tested with a serious resume.

He ain't going down without a fight against ANYBODY. Both guys are gonna test eachother.

Crawford is absolutely nothing like Peterson.
Lamont is a swarmer and smotherer.
Crawford won't even come near you even if you're helpless on the ropes.
                      Watch his fight with Diaz.
