  • Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor: The Next Step Could Be Anthony Yigit, Euro Title

Two weeks ago, Josh Taylor took a huge step closer to a world title shot with a ninth-round stoppage of former world champion Miguel Vazquez at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston. The 26-year-old Scot from Prestonpans knew the first defence of his WBC silver super-lightweight belt against the 30-year-old Mexican would be a clear step up in class.

I think he is too emotive at the moment for world class level. He takes alot to heart and is easy to get into his head.

Good fight i think. Perfect next step for Taylor.

I don't see the point in him sticking around British title level, especially when it takes 3 defences to win the belt outright, it would be treading water. I suppose he could fight Catterall anyway though if he wants a few more decent fights before going to world level.

See how he gets on v Yigit for the Euro title. If he beats him comfortably then he should go after someone like Lipinets.

I'd have liked to see Jack Catterall vs. Josh Taylor for the British title. That would be a competetive fight.

Decent fight, Taylor could easily bypass this and fight any of the top guys in the division any beat them IMO.
          Yigit will get obliterated.

All about the rankings, Yigit WBC-#11, WBO-#8, WBA#6. IBF Yigits the highest ranked fighter #3, Taylor #11, they haven't updated it since the Vazquez fight though. IBF could make Taylor/Yigit a final eliminator. Its the way to go, Lipinets beatable.

Taylor only other ranking is with the WBC and they've got a little tournament going on, could be a while to get that shot

Catterall is good but Taylor is going to take over 140. Easy fight for Taylor

Good fight and a good way to edge into world title contention.

I'd prefer to see him go for the Iceman/Prograis winner, i feel like the lipinets is such a low reward fight for medium/high risk.
He's a tough little bastard regardless of his performance in his last fight.

I like Josh, but he's not ready for that. Vazquez was always a mauler, he grappled and stunk. Vazquez just couldn't muscle a bigger, younger man. Nice KO, but Vazquez was never the best even at 135. A world of difference from Vazquez to Prograis.
