  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo vs. Golovkin Rematch Will "Definitely Happen"

Godlen Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya is very confident that a rematch between Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) and middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) will take place next May - during Cinco De Mayo weekend. This past September, during Mexican Independence Day weekend, Canelo challenged Golovkin for the IBO, IBF, WBA, WBC middleweight titles at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Lemieux's name is just to keep ggg from asking to much money Oscar tells k2 you don't like this deal you feel your worth more go get it somewhere else and we will give Lemieux the fight for may.Oscars job is to get canelo the best deal possible he has no obligation to ggg stop crying every time Lemieux name comes up he can use whatever negotiation tactics he wants to get his fighter the best deal

Exactly, it's the same thing GBP did the 1st time when Canelo became the mandatory for saunders by beating Smith.

Common sense that it made ggg agree to their terms as the B-side & if he wants that payday he'll accept the demands this time for same reasons,as surely he was thinking he deserves a bigger cut this time even though hes a flop of a ppv draw, GBP are smart businessman.

Hoping the outcome is more clear, but I still saw a fairly clear fight for Canelo. I mean, besides jabs and aggression, he did everything better. Defended better, better offense (quality not quantity), better combinations, better power punches landed, and won the championship rounds.

I think Canelo beats pretty clearly Golovkin in rematch, maybe stops him. Golovkin will be 36 y/o next year.

... "a bargaining chip" reads the article... OK... of course it's about the money, but it's also about the venue!... GGG contemplated a fight away from Las Vegas...
