BELFAST is a great fight venue and the fans in the city get another chance to cheer on their own tonight. Carl Frampton makes his long-awaited return to the ring when he takes on Mexican Horacio Garcia at the SSE Arena. When he fights, Belfast knows and we were delighted to land his signature when he became available earlier this year.

Right now, the context between these fighters and the rest of the division is so lacking, that this trilogy fight brings little intrigue. Let Frampton fight Mares (a better matchup), let Santa Cruz fight Russell, Jo Jo, or Valdez, maybe mix and match a bit, and then the trilogy fight could be much more interesting come 2019. But right now, what does it mean?

To be honest I felt that Santa Cruz won the rematch decisively and a rubber match isn't really necessary, at least not right now. I'd rather see Frampton face Selby or Valdez, while Santa Cruz faces Russell Jr

I would be down for a Mares/Frampton fight and
        Santa Cruz/Russell Jr.

I actually thought even the 1st fight was a Draw and that's with Leo being distracted with his father fighting cancer. He spent more time site seeing NY with his Father then training. He actually wanted to call that fight off but his dad wouldn't let him. The 2nd fight wasn't even close. The 3rd will be the same.

I would probably bet Mares to even beat Frampton. Robert Garcia is the PERFECT Trainer for Mares. He looks like a completely different fighter. And Framptons with a new team and trainer??? I thought Shane McGuigan did WONDERFUL work with him. Bringing in new trainers this late against top opponents usually equals a loss.
