People can debate all they want about cottos career but at the end if the day, the guy is a multi division world champion who will go into the hall of fame and has earned the respect of the majority in the boxing world (fighters and fans alike). Dislike him & diminish his accomplishments all you want but he's going down in history as one of the top fighters of his era.

I wish him well after boxing. Just wish I could unsee him wearing a tutu whilst sparring and this unicorn flipflop episode still burns my mind.

I wouldn't be surprised if cottos final ringwalk song is Sam smith - too good at goodbye. fitting end for a gaylord warrior surely?

Excellent assessment. Actually, I'd take a step further and dare say he doesn't even belong in the hall of fame. Never unified a title, lost to all elite fighters, mostly fought for vacant titles, and his biggest wins were against somehow disabled fighters.

a lot of ''after the fact'' types.

they should watch every fight leading up to cotto. theyd never know serg was ''crippled''

and of course a guy will look crippled after they get rocked. if thats the case, kostya put zab in a wheel chair.

Well said man. Nobody is perfect in boxing world imo, they all got something that deserves some critique, smaller issues or bigger. But that being said, Cotto was a warrior, wasnt scare to face the beasts of the division and was a very entertaining champion in my opinion. WAR COTTO

should be a great program! i sure hope the program includes cottos great record against world class healthy fighters such as the 119-109 loss to trout, the multiple knockdowns and stoppage against the much smaller pacquiao (who hasnt stopped anyone since), getting comfortably beat by canelo (who had a way easier time with cotto than in his other big fights), getting beaten up and quitting against a limited margarito and a lopsided loss to mayweather. Legendary status right there!
